It’s time to take our noticing skills outdoors. Bundle up to suit your weather (it’s freezing here!) and take yourself out for a little nature walk. Head to a trail or park or beach – somewhere that inspires you – and let nature be your guide.
“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
Albert Einstein
Take a moment before you start and bring awareness to your breath. Take a few deep cleansing breaths and look around the place you are about to explore. Engage your senses – be curious about what your eyes, ears, nose and touch are experiencing.
Move through the landscape, paying attention to the energies you feel – perhaps the temperature, movement or stillness, growth or rest. Notice what you observe and check in to see if that somehow reflects how you are feeling today.
Find a space to rest for a few minutes and capture some thoughts in your journal:
“Here, in this natural landscape, I feel / am inspired by….”
Or maybe you are inspired to sketch or draft a poem.
Before you leave, take a few more deep breaths and reflect gratefully on your experience and any insights.
